‘Kinda feel like a side character’ - This concept was born from the feeling of invisibility — those days when you're not the main character in your own story, when life moves around you instead of with you.

As the creator behind this piece, I wanted to give voice to the often unspoken struggles with loneliness, disconnection, and mental fatigue. In anime, side characters are usually the ones standing just outside the spotlight — observing, supporting, quietly hurting. They may not always be seen, but their presence is meaningful. That mirrors the real world, where many people carry silent battles behind everyday smiles.

Anime culture has always had a beautiful way of expressing the silence — the wind blowing through empty hallways, the cherry blossoms falling alone. I leaned into that atmosphere to express something that’s both deeply personal and widely relatable: the idea that it’s okay to not feel okay, to feel backgrounded sometimes. It doesn't make you less important. In fact, side characters often have the most depth — they grow in the shadows.
